This policy explains what we collect, how we hold it, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can access it, correct it or complain.
What personal information do we collect and hold?
The information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It may include identification information such as your name, address, contact details and date of birth; financial information relevant to credit assistance, such as income, expenses, assets, liabilities and employment details; and other information we are required or authorised to collect under law, including the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth). How do we collect your personal information?
Where practical we collect information directly from you: through forms on this website, by email, by phone or in the course of providing credit assistance. We may also collect information from third parties where it is reasonably necessary, including co-applicants and guarantors, employers, accountants and other professional advisers, lenders, valuers, identity verification services and public registers.
What if you do not want to provide information?
You can deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym for general enquiries. If you withhold information we need, we may be unable to provide credit assistance, verify your identity, assess suitability or respond to your enquiry.
How do we take care of your personal information?
We hold information in electronic systems protected by access controls, and we limit access to staff who need it to do their work. Where third parties store data on our behalf, contractual protections apply. We keep information only as long as it is needed or as the law requires. Records connected to credit activities are generally retained for 7 years under legislation including the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth). When information is no longer required, we destroy or de-identify it.
